Would you rather: leave to go to a concert early to get first spot in line even though you know the wait will be long to get inside, or leave late to avoid the long line and the wait even though you know you’ll have bad seats?
As my best friend and I planned, we were going to get ready for the concert early so that we could leave for the concert on time. But as you know with us girls it never works out that way! The concert started at 7:30 PM and we left my house around say….. 8:30 PM. Reasons being:
- I had to SLAY her make up and then mine. Which if you didn’t know, takes up a lot of time.
- Of course we took a thousand and one pictures.
- We’re black. So of course we were running on CPT (Colored People Time), haha.
Walking down the streets of Downtown Cleveland made me miss home so much. It sucks being 3 hours away. I couldn’t help but think about the exploring I plan to do once I come home for winter break. Along the same strip as our destination, The House of Blues, there’s a bakery named Colossal Cupcakes which I’m dying to try. Sucks to say I’ve been living in Cleveland all of my life and I’ve never had a cupcake from there. I’ve heard so many good reviews about the place that it’s now on my to-do list of places I need to visit.
For those who don’t know, The House of Blues has no seating. Close to an hour already into the concert, my best friend and I stood with a huge crowd of people as we listened to the opening act: Taylor Bennett (Chance The Rapper’s brother). He was amaaazzziiinnnggg!!! I can’t even explain how great of an artist he is. It’s almost like having two versions of Chance; they sound exactly the same! Next up was Kranium, a Jamaican singer. I didnt know much about him ’till my best friend explained to me who he was. Then it poppped up in my head that I’ve heard one of his songs before. He had the crowd singing all old reggae tunes like “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley and “Hold Yuh” by Gyptian.
And here you have it folks, the moment we were all waiting for! 😩 😍
Tory Lanez came out and performed all of his top hits! Luv, Say It, Flex, N.A.M.E…. the list goes on. My best friend and I were surprisingly very close to him, which I definitely wasn’t complaining about considering it was packed and very hot. In the middle of his performance, Tory stopped his music to give us a review of his past life along with some inspirational words. He told us that no matter who they are (your boss, teacher, sister, mother, etc.), do not let anyone keep you from living the life you want to live.
As the concert came to a close, Tory began crowd surfing while singing his feature to “Litty” by Meek Mill. I was so close to touching him but not close enough! About an inch away but my hand couldn’t reach far enough. I was so bummed out when it all was over. Maybe if I just had reached a little further I would’ve been able to touch him. I bet the guy holding his hand to keep him up was very ecstatic. All in all, I had a great time and now want to expand my concert series! Next up: ????
