What My 30 Day Social Media Cleanse Taught Me | Welcome 2018!

IMG_0573

Hi guys! Its been literally, 30 days since I’ve blogged (actually a bit more). Remember when everyone thought the world was going to end in 2012? Who would’ve thought that we would make it to see 2018?? God is extremely merciful and an awesome God. As the year started, I decided to give myself a break from social media so that I can clear my mind and start this year off with a new way of thinking. We all know that social media can be such an influence on our way of thinking and our everyday lives.

It’s Not Easy

First of all, DO NOT think that this challenge was easy for me. As a blogger & beauty influencer, I can tell you right now… it hurt my poor soul to give social media up. I couldn’t post any makeup looks, couldn’t express my thoughts via tweets, couldn’t keep up with my friends’ everyday lives on Snapchat, etc. I can say though, in the beginning I was so determined to do this. The first two weeks weren’t that bad, but as things started to happen in my life, I couldn’t express how I felt like I could before — via the internet.

Use Your Time Wisely

What did I do instead of browsing social media you ask? I read books, played games, hung out with my friends, I even got a chance to plan my entire semester out. I made myself a workout plan, a daily planner, a budget plan, and a business plan. Believe it or not, this helped me realize how much time I ACTUALLY spend on the internet. When I eliminated it completely, I realized how much free time I had to do other things like some of the activities I listed above. Even just cherishing those times with those you love without having to reach for your phone.. its a completely different experience.

Jesus Confirmed It!

My relationship with God got so much stronger. I cannot stress this enough. Instead of expressing my thoughts on the internet, I confided in Him. When I talked to God, it was almost like writing in a diary. Whenever I had an idea, I talked to God about it and the next thing I know, He’ll confirm my thoughts. I felt so much pain, sadness, anger, and negative vibes go away after “writing in my diary”. Staying away from the internet in my tough times and just talking to Him gave me so much confidence. It confirmed success over everything I planned to do this year!

MOVING FORWARD

So moving forward.. what did I gain from this that I can take into the new year? With all of this time on my hands, I was able to plan for my future. As a bit of encouragement, I say this…

“Faith without work, is dead.” – James 2:20

Once God does His part, We must do our part! I hope this post gives you some encouragement on spending more time with God and yourself, and motivates you to focus on your success!

2018, The Year of Sacrifices

First, it will feel like a sacrifice. Then, it will feel like the grind. Then, it will feel like life. Then, it will feel like freedom.

purple-rose-clipart-png-tumblr-19

So here I am. 10 in the morning, listening to Jhene Aiko’s “You Are Here” in bed, pajamas, bonnet and all. I’ve been thinking about the new year as of late, and I’d love to share with you my final thoughts of 2017.

I felt as if this year was rough, specifically for me because it was my hardest semester in college. Along with the huge load of school work, came a lot of life changing situations. Through it all, I can say there were various emotions I felt harder than ever before — such as loss, confusion, carelessness, and even freedom.

Looking into the new year, I want to see myself prosper and bloom. Now we all know that wanting to succeed is a universal goal for everyone going into the new year. But what is it actually going to take?

Looking back, I’ve always wanted to succeed, but if I really think about it… I always wanted more for myself but didn’t put in the necessary time and attention for it. Thats why I say that 2018 is the year for sacrifice.

First, it will feel like a sacrifice. Then, it will feel like the grind.

I feel this in many ways. One of my goals is to become more dedicated to Youtube. I fell off very bad this year and I want to use my weekends to create content. Now when it comes to weekends, all I want to do is relax.

Ever heard that saying, work now and rest later? I’m young, in my 20’s, and I feel like I should be using my 20’s to my advantage. 10 years from now, I see myself still working hard but already having a solid foundation. And to have that, I need to hustle like never before. As Obama says,

GIF image-A2E79D2D706C-1

A lot of it. I want to be able to say that in my 20’s, I DID THAT!! I did the damn thing!

Create a list

One thing I’ve started to do to prepare for the new year is create a list of goals. These goals are long term and short term. These goals include financial, business, education, and personal well-being categories! I’ll share some,

Financial

  • save $30+ a week
  • Pay $10 to my credit card every week
  • save $1000 by the end of the year

One thing I kept in mind is that I have to be realistic. My initial goal was to save 3k. now, knowing my spending habits and just who I am as a person, I knew that that wasn’t going to happen! a thousand a year is reasonable for me because again, I’m in school and I have to pay rent.

Create a goals board

Here’s another idea to go along with your list. Create a goals board. Its very simple and very cheap. Just grab you some sticky notes, a sharpie, and a poster board. Write out your goals on the sticky notes and post them on the poster board. When completed, take the sticky note down and tally your completed goals. By the end of the year, look back and see how many goals you’ve completed!

Leave 2017 behind

You heard me! Those hardships, that awful job, messy situations, backstabbing friends, whatever it is that didn’t make you happy.. leave. it. in. 2017. Choose to flourish, choose to prosper, choose to be the best you in 2018.

One thing I’ve learned in 2017 and am so so so thankful for, is that I realized my worth. If this hasn’t happened for you yet, believe me when I say it’s coming. And on God’s time. Before 2017, I was a wreck. I let certain things affect me and certain people use me. God let a lot of things happen to me, just so that I could get to this point in life now and say this:

That moment you realize your worth, your whole life will change in a positive way. I’ve learned that it is okay to be selfish at times and it is okay to drop whatever or whoever it is that is hindering you from living your best life. You were thinking about others more than yourself, and that was the problem. It is okay to put yourself first. I’ve also realized that it is okay to do things that make you happy! Learn to only care about your opinion only. It’s the only one that matters! When I decided to let those things go and do things that I love, I became a person I was able to love. And THAT became my foundation for everything else I wanted to do in my life.

My December Essentials

As we enter the cold season, I’d like to share with you all my December essentials. These are products/items I have for everyday usage! Whether I’m going on a trip, getting ready for class, or taking a mini shopping trip.. I’ll always have these babies on.

2272543Japonesque Color Liquid Light | $28

This liquid highlighter does wonders for your skin. I use it when its one of those days where I don’t want to put on a full face, but still want some glow. You can pick this up at Ulta Beauty! I like it because it blends well with my skin and foundation, and keeps it hydrated as well as shimmery. Also, its not greasy on the skin.

10552547-1382087024-388747Benefit Cosmetics ”They’re Real!” Lengthening Mascara | $24

The holy grail of mascaras. This purchase was off impulse and has changed my mascara game ever since! I wear it literally every day, with or without makeup. It doesn’t form clumps on my eyelashes and it you don’t need to apply a lot for your eye lashes to pop out. Find it at Ulta Beauty.

9005813_fpxApple Watch Series 2 33mm | $250+

I’m not going anywhere without my Apple Watch on! Lots of people say its a pointless purchase, but I love being able to look and reply to my messages and even get notifications without looking at my phone. It’s handy for me, being a college student. It keeps me focused and away from my phone during class time!

img-thingForever 21 Cable Knit Pom Pom Beanie | $5

Perfect for the winter, fall, and a bad hair day. I’ve worn this hat almost every day since it’s gotten colder and I don’t feel bad about it! I believe the pom pom beanies are cute and in style as well. I’d suggest getting a white and black one. Neutral colored accessories during the colder seasons are a necessity.

Maybelline-Lip-Gloss-Lip-Studio-Shine-Shot-Glassy-Topcoat-041554459869-CMaybelline Shine Shot Lip Topcoat | $5

Hands down the best clear gloss I’ve ever bought! It’s definitely worth upgrading from the clear gloss at the hair store that is super sticky and somehow starts drooping out after a few weeks of using it. I’m always down for a glossy lip because its perfect for when you don’t want to wear makeup! I use this to put over a matte lipstick or pair it with a lip liner as well. It’s very versatile and definitely an everyday essential.

I got this highlighter in the shades Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule. These shimmers are very coppery, which goes well with my medium to dark skin tone. I also love it because it’s very glitzy and is very light weight, as to the Trophy Wife which is very heavy and only has one shade of shimmer.

All of these items are ones I cannot go through a regular winter or fall day without! The beauty products I listed are amazing because a little of it will go a long way. Fenty Beauty, Benefit Cosmetics, and Maybelline are great cosmetic lines for women of color, along with some others. What are your November essentials?

21 Questions with Kris Hilton

charley4Hey guys! It’s been a while since I’ve written but today I’m here to share with you a dear friend of mine. Let’s talk about Kris. I met Kris in New York over the past summer at a greek picnic. After having one conversation, we saw that we had a lot of similar interests, one being that we were from the same city. Kris Hilton is a fashion stylist from Cleveland, Ohio. I’ve gotten the chance to interview Kris on his styling experience and expertise. Take a look!

1. At what age did you start becoming fascinated with fashion?
I’d always had a love for fashion, but once I got into high school I began to take it seriously. I HATED the way everyone dressed and wanted to do different from everyone else.
2. How did you prepare for a career in fashion?
I started indulging in different industries my junior year of high school. I started off Designing, then went into Modeling. I wasn’t crazy about either of those and found that my real niche was Fashion Styling. It gave me more of way to express my creativity. I then began interning for several different companies and gaining my skills from hands-on experiences and used that to kick start my career.

3. What is your dream job?

My dream job entails working for myself. I promised myself I would never work a “job” anymore, my passion is now my career.

4. What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future include opening up 3 StyledByKHilton showrooms (Cleveland, Atlanta, Los Angeles) that will include exclusive pieces from independent designers from all over. The showrooms will be open exclusively for fashion stylists & college students with fashion majors.
5. Where do you see yourself taking your styling career?

The sky is the limit. I want to focus more on the business aspect of my career. Yes, I love styling and working 1-on-1 with my clients, but the coin is in the business aspect. Open showrooms, open boutiques, manage a team. That’s my goal!

6. Favorite fashion designer?Image 11-14-17 at 1.04 PM (2)
My favorite designer is Karl Lagerfeld. The very first fashion show I saw was Chanel F/W ’09/’10. The presentation itself amazed me in so many ways and really sparked my interest to indulge deeper into the industry. Since then I have discovered and followed the works of Viktor & Rolf, Alexander Wang, Gareth Pugh, Balmain, Rick Owens, Y3, & Versace.

7. How do you go about styling your clients?

Every client is different. so every approach is different. Through my website, you can book my services directly. There is a section for you to explain your needs and we go about the consultation from there.

8. What is the essential accessory of Fall 2017?

I’m still obsessed with the male clutch. It’s a popular accessory in the New York fashion scene. I think it’s perfect for a night out. Especially for people like myself! I carry a million things in my pockets. Having a stylish clutch to compliment your outfit and contain everything you carry on you is a win win!

9. How do you describe your style?

My style is classic & clean. Even though it’s extremely versatile, all my looks maintain a clean gentlemen image. It’s always been my favorite style, I look and feel my best when I step out clean!

10. What is the most treasured item in your closet and why?

All my ties are my treasure pieces. They all have a unique story behind them, and usually when I have to wear a tie another story is probably in the works of being made.

Image 11-14-17 at 1.03 PM11. You’d never be caught dead wearing what?

Keep the fanny packs. I see it’s made a comeback and popular brands such as BAPE, Supreme, Gucci, Etc. have designed a new take on the fanny pack. Whether it’s worn cross body or around the waist, I’ll pass on it.

12. You can never travel without..?

I can never travel without my Carmex, my phone, & charger. I feel like if I were to ever be stranded somewhere, those are the ESSENTIALS I would need to survive.

13. What are you dying to buy next?

I think it’s time for a new designer duffel bag. I’m excited for my 2018 travels and I always like to travel in style. So my next investment will definitely be another bag.

14. If you had to style one celebrity (male), who would it be and why?

Big Sean! He has always been one of my favorite style influencers. His versatility is similar to mine so I feel like he would be fun and easy to work with..

15. The celebrity most in need of a fashion make over is…?

Someone please help Remy Ma. PLEASE. She’s trying to make a comeback and needs help in all aspects. I can’t help her!

16. Your favorite beauty essential is?Image 11-14-17 at 1.03 PM (1)

I always need my translucent powder. It keeps a matte finish on my eyebrows and foundation and keeps my face smooth and oil free.

17. If you had to style one celebrity (female), who would it be and why?

I would love the chance to work with Cardi B. Her 2017 glow up and transformation is amazing. She has nice style but could definitely use a few pointers. Her energy is also amazing, which is important when working with clients. I love to click with my clients both on a personal and professional level.

18. What are your strengths?

Commitment, honesty, promptness, and professionalism.

19. What are your weaknesses?

Constant reassurance. I always need 2nd opinions or reassurance. I wouldn’t really consider that a BAD weakness but It can get in the way sometimes.

Image 11-14-17 at 1.04 PM20. What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion is my form of expression. When I look good, I feel good. I love the way an outfit can make me feel.

21. Do you think there is a difference between fashion and style?

I always have and will forever live by this quote by Edna Woodman: “Fashion can be bought. Style one must possess.”

I agree with Kris when he said he couldn’t live without his charger and cellphone! If you would like to talk to Kris for any inquiries, you can contact him at:

The Value of Solitude

“It’s surprising how loud silence can be. Especially when you’re not used to it.”

-David Mathis

This is my experience.

I’ve struggled with the idea and concept of being alone for a very long time. Often times God will take things and people away to reposition us to accept our blessings — to give us a better life, the one we are destined to live.

God made us for cycles and seasons, for routines and cadences.

The Bible supports the value of solitude in numerous of verses. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” It is much easier to “be still” in solitude. Lamentations 3:25–28 says, “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young. Let him sit alone in silence, for the Lord has laid it on him.”

Why get away?

We want to find new clarity, resolve, become initiative, or come back to our everyday life and double our efforts. Silence is simply searching the depths of our own souls, asking what our blind spots have become in the rush of everyday life. In the busyness, is there anything important I’m neglecting?  What needs refocusing?

The Benefits

Biblically speaking, solitude is a valuable practice. “Alone time” with God can allow God to examine us. It can be a time of knowing God more deeply, a time of strengthening, a time of refreshment, a time of sharing our deepest concerns with God, and a time of simply being with the One who formed us and loves us beyond our understanding.

Another benefit of periodic times of solitude is that such times allow us to refocus ourselves on what is truly important. It is good, every now and then, to “come away” from life’s daily distractions. We don’t want the “worries of this life” to choke out the Word (Mark 4:19). Rather, we want to spend valuable time listening to Him.

I thought this was important to share during this time as we are getting closer to the end of the year and as a college student, midterms and finals are peaking through the curtains. Know when to eliminate distractions and refocus. It will be an important tool to us as we close this semester.

Feeling stressed? Reach for your time of solitude and talk to God. He will listen.

Updated Skin Care Routine ft. Blooming Iris | Fall Edition

Hey guys! I am back for another beauty post. Today’s topic is skincare. With the transitioning weather from summer to fall, it is necessary to take note of the temperature changes when picking new products for your skin. If you haven’t read my latest skincare routine, click the link to read before reading this one! Let’s get started:

06097Oatifix Fresh Face Mask | I start off my routine with this fresh face mask from Lush every morning. It contains bananas, oats, almonds, illipe butter, sandalwood oil, and glycerin to lock moisture into your skin. Hands down, this is the best face scrub I’ve ever used for under $10. It leaves my skin soft and dewy which I like, considering I have extremely dry skin. If you’re looking for a face m/’ask that smells good and is inexpensive, this is your guy. One con I’d say would be that it is recommended by Lush that you keep their fresh face masks in the refrigerator because it is all natural and vegan, although I don’t do that (and it still works perfectly). I don’t put it in the refrigerator simply because when you’re ready to use it, it’s all cold and hard which I am not in favor of. Overall, it is a great product to have!

alovera-tonerAfter washing my face, I use my Blooming Iris Aloe Vera Toner. Blooming Iris is a skincare line created by my dear friend and entrepreneur, Akabalon. She uses pure aloe vera straight from the plant! Imagine washing your face and it feeling like butter, then on top of that, adding another layer of moisture on top of that with this toner. I spray this on my face about three times, rub it all in, and let it set on my face. After 3-5 minutes, my skin is radiant and glowing! Fun fact: Aloe vera contains two hormones that provide wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce skin inflammation. If you have these problems, anything with aloe vera will be the right product for you.

img_5321Cortizone 10 | Once the toner has set, I go in with my favorite product of all time, Cortizone 10. As I’ve stated in my latest skincare routine,  I tend to have redness and itchiness on my face. I also use this when I get small bumps on my face. It is very helpful for people with eczema, rashes, scars, and acne. You use a dime size amount and you’ll be fine. When I skip this step or run out for a few days, I notice my small bumps start to resurface or I start scratching my face. So this product is a life saver for me!

img_1644Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel | I then finish off with my favorite moisturizer of all time. This baby is $20.I t does wonders for the skin and is super soft when applying! Use Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel to instantly quench dry skin and boost’s skin’s hydration level. This oil-free formula quenches dry skin to keep it looking smooth, supple, and hydrated day after day. The unique water gel formula absorbs quickly like a gel, but has the long-lasting, intense moisturizing power of a cream. This gel moisturizer is formulated with hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the skin. Hyaluronic acid acts as a sponge for dry skin cells, moisturizing skin with up to 1,000 times its weight in water. The non-comedogenic gel moisturizer can be worn under makeup and leaves your skin more supple and smooth.

As you can tell, my skin routine has shortened for the fall season. My focus is all on moisture, and all of my products have a significant amount inside which makes my skin happy and hydrated!

Beginner Friendly: How to Start a Blog + 100 Blog Post Ideas

Hey loves! It’s been a minute since I’ve written to you guys. Recently, I’ve been trying to get into the swing of things when it comes to school, work, and finding time to blog. I’ve gotten a bunch of responses on creating this post, so here it is!

HOW TO START A BLOG

Pick a blog platform

There’s so many platforms to choose from. I use WordPress, but you can choose from Tumblr, Squarespace, Blogger, Weebly, etc. As a beginner, you’ll want a blogging platform that’s easy to set up, and doesn’t require any coding skills. You’ll also need to think about what kind of blog you want to create, now and in the future. As your blog grows, you may want to change the look of your site and add more features for your growing audience. That means it’s important to choose a blogging platform that’s flexible, with room to grow.

If you’re looking to showcase more photos than words, Tumblr is perfect! Their platform is mainly for visuals and in my opinion, is the best if you’d like to display your photography.

If you’re looking to sell items on your site, I’d suggest using Squarespace! If you’re apart of the e-commerce community, their platform lets you easily sell items without a hassle.

If you’re looking to express your feelings, share stories, reviews, or maybe even start a travel blog, WordPress, Weebly, and Blogger are awesome for that. These are all great platforms if you want to become a lifestyle, beauty, or fashion blogger as well.

What’s your theme/topic?

Picking a theme is so important because it will draw attention to your blog. Having a niche will separate you from the crowd. To choose my theme, I wrote down 5 things that describe who I am — Caribbean, college student, fashionista, young, and black. I also thought about things I like to do/talk about — college, love, shopping, etc. So as you see on my blog, I chose palm trees and bright colors as my theme. I centered my blog posts around my life experiences, fashion, beauty, and school. Find your passion. If you’re passionate about food, start a food blog! Maybe you’re passionate about video games. Write a review on the latest video game that sparked your interest. So there’s a few things you could do that can help your creative juices to flow!

Pick a name

To start, my blog’s name was The Style Island. I chose this name because it represented my origin (Jamaica, the Caribbean) and what I like (style = fashion, beauty, shopping). To help pick your name, I’d suggest referring to the words used to help you choose your theme and topic. In the future, you might want to buy your domain name. Make sure it is as original and true to you as possible because once you are ready to take that next step, you’ll want your name to be available for purchase.

Start blogging!

It’s really just that easy! 4 simple steps. Unbelievable, right? Well sometimes, all you have to do is start. If you’re thinking about becoming a lifestyle, fashion, or beauty blogger, here are 100 blog posts ideas to get you started!

RECLAIMING MY TIME

A necessity in 2017! Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time we stop accepting everything that is thrown at us. Not all of it is good and if we’re being honest… we’re only getting older! We don’t have time to waste on people and things that aren’t giving us the happiness and peace we deserve. Time is limited. Don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

Be wary of time wasters

During the summer, I finally got the grasp of this concept. I’m sure you’ve all experienced this as well. When school is out is when your inbox starts to fill up with “lets work” and “lets link up” people who never fall through. People can be time wasters. Those candidates who swarm your inbox with “text me” and not “when are you free?” are time wasters. Beware of those who make the same mistakes over and over again. THEY are the they that DJ Khaled was talking about! They don’t want you to succeed or change. They want you to stay in your repetitive cycle of stagnant situations. They don’t want to see you at peace or prosper!

Learn to say no

If you say “yes” to every request, you will never have any time for yourself. Get super protective about your time, and say “no” to everything that will effect your life in a negative way. It’s okay to say no sometimes. It isn’t rude or ignorant. It’s just you saving time for yourself and that is completely okay!

Do what makes you happy

As cheesy and original as it sounds, this is the most effective thing you can do when wanting to reclaim your time. Use your time wisely, and when I say this, do what is going to keep you happy. A time at peace and joy is never a time wasted. That blog? Start it. That book you’ve been dying to read? Read it! That idea? Get it out there! Whatever your gift is, put it to use!

Cut out distractions

What is there around your workspace that distracts you from the task at hand? Sometimes it’s visual clutter, or papers lying around that call for your attention and action, or emails on your computer that pop up at the wrong time, or the phone, or coworkers. See if you can eliminate as many of these as possible — the more you can focus, the more effective you’ll be and the less time you’ll waste. That equals time saved for the good stuff!

How will you reclaim your time?

Girls Trip: NYC + LOOK BOOK

img_2932

To keep updated, read my last post before you read this one! This past week, some friends and I made our way to New York City! After a long 14 hour bus drive, you’d think we’d be ready to hit the hay. Nope! At 3:30 in the morning we made our way to a bar called Brooklyn Vibes. The strip we stayed in for the trip is apparently where a lot of Caribbean places and people reside. During my stay, I can attest to this! Brooklyn Vibes played nothing but Caribbean hits and I couldn’t have been more pleased.

Check out my first vlog, recapping my time in New York City and my travel skin care routine! [click here]

IMG_2937.JPGThe first day we visited Poco, a brunch restaurant with bottomless mimosas! They also specialize in organic lunch and dinner.  The drink options were mimosas, sangrias, and bloody mary’s. Of course I went with the sangrias. My friends and I wanted to be adventurous, so we asked for a bloody mary. Let me tell you… THE WORST DRINK I’VE EVER TASTED. Tomato juice in my drinks aren’t the move. The bartender said that many people order it because it’s suppose to ‘cure a hangover’? I don’t get that logic, but nonetheless if I ever had a hangover… bloody mary’s wouldn’t be my go-to. Yuck. We had about 5-6 rounds of sangrias. Talk about day drinking.

On the menu, I got the pulled chicken sandwich. In between the bun, there was applewood smoked bacon, a 3-cheese blend, tomato and chipotle aioli. SOOOOO GOOD.  It came with a side of potatoes, which was also really good, and a side salad with some type of sauce on it. I couldn’t really recall it, but it was sweet and looked like vinaigrette. If you got the bottomless sangrias, your entire meal would be just $32 plus tax. Not bad I say! It was definitely worth the money. I haven’t seen too many of these type of places in Cleveland, but hopefully I find one!

FullSizeRender.jpgFor brunch I wore a yellow romper from Altar’d State with black strap sandals from Urban OG. I paired it with my favorite Francesca’s sunglasses with a top white frame, some midi rings, and just a small black wallet from Aldo.

The next day, we visited China Town. A.k.a, bargain city. Unfortunately, this was one of the stops we agreed to go to later and never found the time to! I actually wish I was able to shop here. i saw lots of sunglasses, bracelets, and bags I wanted to buy! I reminisce going to China Town the time I visited NYC  when I was young and getting a deli sandwich from this small asian cuisine restaurant and I wish I knew the name of it. The scenery is beautiful as well as the bargains in China Town!

We also visited Coney Island. I always thought Coney Island was in a different city, come to find out it’s right in NYC. I’m not a fan of rides, but there was great food, a reggae festival and salsa dancing on the boardwalk. We even stopped to get ice cream. It was a very windy, and even chilly day which wasn’t expected. Nonetheless we still enjoyed ourselves. We took some pictures next too some huge artwork by artists right in NYC. We even got stopped by a few photographers to take photos of us.

I wore this beautiful scarlet dress with leaves on it (you know I love palm trees) from Forever 21. Here, my black strap sandals are pictured. I wore my yellow hand bag, reviewed in my latest fashion post from Aldo. I paired it with a rose gold linear necklace from Francesca’s.

Our final destination was Times Square. The scenery and vibe is truly capturing. It took us about an hour to find food. There were way too many options! H&M was HUGE compared to the one in the mall in my hometown.

Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetThe Juice Shop. My best friend wanted a smoothie so bad, we searched high and low for one! We finally landed to one and guess what, the smoothies were TEN DOLLARS. I’ve never had a smoothie for that much and neither have my friends. Then again, it is New York. We tried a PB&J and CJ smoothie which consisted of peanut butter, chia gel, strawberry, banana, agave, and almond milk. Yum! It tasted just like a PB&J sandwich and after tasting it, I still don’t think $10 would be worth it, haha.

I featured this denim button up dress in my vlog. It is from H&M and I got it for only $15 (yes it was on sale)! My cute sandals are from Alumni, a store we found on a strip in Brooklyn, New York.

Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetFun fact: I spent $40 on this meal right here. Chicken alfredo and a drink. N E V E R  A G A I N. It was delicious though, but definitely not worth the price. This dinner was at il Fornetto. The service was great and our waitress had a great sense of humor. The dinner was by the lake and on the lake were beautiful swans and boats. There was a ‘beware of sharks’ sign, but honestly the water was way too shallow for sharks. I think it was just for entertainment. Anyways, my friends and I regretted spending up to $50 at this restaurant!

I’d rate this trip a 9.5/10.. everything was amazing, even with the long train rides and expensive food. I enjoyed getting away for the summer and making memories with my friends! Next stop: Cancun? Stay tuned!
