Guest Post February | Brand YOU: Self-marketing Your Way to Whatever the Hell You Want

Author, Tameka Christmas

There are two reasons why people hide behind their brand: shame of promoting a brand/business or people are very much interested in the behind the scenes of the movement, job, business, or brand. I fall into the first category.

I wasn’t afraid of sharing magical moments on Instagram or tweeting popular tweets on twitter. It was natural, automated. I didn’t think about it. I just did it. I also didn’t fear sharing content on social media and give credit. I would screenshot a post on Instagram, retweet a tweet, or share an article or product on Facebook. However, when I got down to sharing events, products, or business ideas for myself, I would shut down.

I cancelled events, photoshoot campaigns, and business ideas because I would give myself so much negative talk until my mind was convinced that everything would failed. I felt stuck, unsure, and convinced that doing my own thing wasn’t for me. I even prolonged the released of my own website because I didn’t like it and felt like it wasn’t perfect enough or didn’t convey the message I wanted. But once I started promoting my blogs the fear started subsiding.

My personal brand allowed me to start promoting my own things: my tweets, my love for jackets, my design business, my blogs, and so much more. I bought Make Yourself Marketable by Emmelie De la Cruz and started really investing in my personal brand. Emmelie’s book guided me through the personal mission statement, goals, core values, successes, and things I can offer to others that align with vision and core values. In addition, I started really researching women who have built their brand from just being themselves and pursuing the things they love. People like Valencia Clay (teacher activist), Mia Ray (lifestyle blogger)), Myleik (Owner of CurlBox), Meagan Ward (Owner of Creatively Flawless), Emmelie (Marketing Strategists), and so many more constantly improves their craft and utilizing their skills to fund and start more opportunities that align with their purpose all while being their authentic self.

“Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.” – Brene Brown, Daring Greatly: how the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead

Through this self-marketing journey, I have learned:

  1. Promote but always be yourself
  2. Silence your inner critic
  3. Always keep improving
  4. Life is a journey. Not a destination. Where you start today, you may not even be tomorrow.

As you build your personal brand or even your blog, people want to connect with who you are. They want to know the person behind the brand and how they connect with you. When I started participating in twitter chats, more people started engaging with me. They begin to see me as a person they can communicate with, relate to, and buy from. My sales begin to increase, of course not how I wanted, but people begin to build trust with me.

Self-marketing doesn’t have to be complicated. We tend to overthink and overcomplicate everything. I started researching and learning from women who are their brand. Their brand was an extensive to what they want to offer, not who they are. And once I learned my own value, I felt the journey to my own success took learning, growing, and owing who I am while growing into who I want to be. Identify your transferable skills, develop a vision statement for your life, stay aligned to your core values, and promote the hell out of yourself.

Self-Market Tools:

  1. Facebook page
  2. Blog or Website
  3. LinkedIn
  4. Twitter
  5. Instagram
  6. Attend networking events, workshops, and conferences
  7. Serve your community
  8. Partner with others. Collaboration over competition

What My 30 Day Social Media Cleanse Taught Me | Welcome 2018!

IMG_0573

Hi guys! Its been literally, 30 days since I’ve blogged (actually a bit more). Remember when everyone thought the world was going to end in 2012? Who would’ve thought that we would make it to see 2018?? God is extremely merciful and an awesome God. As the year started, I decided to give myself a break from social media so that I can clear my mind and start this year off with a new way of thinking. We all know that social media can be such an influence on our way of thinking and our everyday lives.

It’s Not Easy

First of all, DO NOT think that this challenge was easy for me. As a blogger & beauty influencer, I can tell you right now… it hurt my poor soul to give social media up. I couldn’t post any makeup looks, couldn’t express my thoughts via tweets, couldn’t keep up with my friends’ everyday lives on Snapchat, etc. I can say though, in the beginning I was so determined to do this. The first two weeks weren’t that bad, but as things started to happen in my life, I couldn’t express how I felt like I could before — via the internet.

Use Your Time Wisely

What did I do instead of browsing social media you ask? I read books, played games, hung out with my friends, I even got a chance to plan my entire semester out. I made myself a workout plan, a daily planner, a budget plan, and a business plan. Believe it or not, this helped me realize how much time I ACTUALLY spend on the internet. When I eliminated it completely, I realized how much free time I had to do other things like some of the activities I listed above. Even just cherishing those times with those you love without having to reach for your phone.. its a completely different experience.

Jesus Confirmed It!

My relationship with God got so much stronger. I cannot stress this enough. Instead of expressing my thoughts on the internet, I confided in Him. When I talked to God, it was almost like writing in a diary. Whenever I had an idea, I talked to God about it and the next thing I know, He’ll confirm my thoughts. I felt so much pain, sadness, anger, and negative vibes go away after “writing in my diary”. Staying away from the internet in my tough times and just talking to Him gave me so much confidence. It confirmed success over everything I planned to do this year!

MOVING FORWARD

So moving forward.. what did I gain from this that I can take into the new year? With all of this time on my hands, I was able to plan for my future. As a bit of encouragement, I say this…

“Faith without work, is dead.” – James 2:20

Once God does His part, We must do our part! I hope this post gives you some encouragement on spending more time with God and yourself, and motivates you to focus on your success!

Girls Trip: NYC + LOOK BOOK

img_2932

To keep updated, read my last post before you read this one! This past week, some friends and I made our way to New York City! After a long 14 hour bus drive, you’d think we’d be ready to hit the hay. Nope! At 3:30 in the morning we made our way to a bar called Brooklyn Vibes. The strip we stayed in for the trip is apparently where a lot of Caribbean places and people reside. During my stay, I can attest to this! Brooklyn Vibes played nothing but Caribbean hits and I couldn’t have been more pleased.

Check out my first vlog, recapping my time in New York City and my travel skin care routine! [click here]

IMG_2937.JPGThe first day we visited Poco, a brunch restaurant with bottomless mimosas! They also specialize in organic lunch and dinner.  The drink options were mimosas, sangrias, and bloody mary’s. Of course I went with the sangrias. My friends and I wanted to be adventurous, so we asked for a bloody mary. Let me tell you… THE WORST DRINK I’VE EVER TASTED. Tomato juice in my drinks aren’t the move. The bartender said that many people order it because it’s suppose to ‘cure a hangover’? I don’t get that logic, but nonetheless if I ever had a hangover… bloody mary’s wouldn’t be my go-to. Yuck. We had about 5-6 rounds of sangrias. Talk about day drinking.

On the menu, I got the pulled chicken sandwich. In between the bun, there was applewood smoked bacon, a 3-cheese blend, tomato and chipotle aioli. SOOOOO GOOD.  It came with a side of potatoes, which was also really good, and a side salad with some type of sauce on it. I couldn’t really recall it, but it was sweet and looked like vinaigrette. If you got the bottomless sangrias, your entire meal would be just $32 plus tax. Not bad I say! It was definitely worth the money. I haven’t seen too many of these type of places in Cleveland, but hopefully I find one!

FullSizeRender.jpgFor brunch I wore a yellow romper from Altar’d State with black strap sandals from Urban OG. I paired it with my favorite Francesca’s sunglasses with a top white frame, some midi rings, and just a small black wallet from Aldo.

IMG_2189.JPG

The next day, we visited China Town. A.k.a, bargain city. Unfortunately, this was one of the stops we agreed to go to later and never found the time to! I actually wish I was able to shop here. i saw lots of sunglasses, bracelets, and bags I wanted to buy! I reminisce going to China Town the time I visited NYC  when I was young and getting a deli sandwich from this small asian cuisine restaurant and I wish I knew the name of it. The scenery is beautiful as well as the bargains in China Town!

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

We also visited Coney Island. I always thought Coney Island was in a different city, come to find out it’s right in NYC. I’m not a fan of rides, but there was great food, a reggae festival and salsa dancing on the boardwalk. We even stopped to get ice cream. It was a very windy, and even chilly day which wasn’t expected. Nonetheless we still enjoyed ourselves. We took some pictures next too some huge artwork by artists right in NYC. We even got stopped by a few photographers to take photos of us.

I wore this beautiful scarlet dress with leaves on it (you know I love palm trees) from Forever 21. Here, my black strap sandals are pictured. I wore my yellow hand bag, reviewed in my latest fashion post from Aldo. I paired it with a rose gold linear necklace from Francesca’s.

Our final destination was Times Square. The scenery and vibe is truly capturing. It took us about an hour to find food. There were way too many options! H&M was HUGE compared to the one in the mall in my hometown.

Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetThe Juice Shop. My best friend wanted a smoothie so bad, we searched high and low for one! We finally landed to one and guess what, the smoothies were TEN DOLLARS. I’ve never had a smoothie for that much and neither have my friends. Then again, it is New York. We tried a PB&J and CJ smoothie which consisted of peanut butter, chia gel, strawberry, banana, agave, and almond milk. Yum! It tasted just like a PB&J sandwich and after tasting it, I still don’t think $10 would be worth it, haha.

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

I featured this denim button up dress in my vlog. It is from H&M and I got it for only $15 (yes it was on sale)! My cute sandals are from Alumni, a store we found on a strip in Brooklyn, New York.

Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetFun fact: I spent $40 on this meal right here. Chicken alfredo and a drink. N E V E R  A G A I N. It was delicious though, but definitely not worth the price. This dinner was at il Fornetto. The service was great and our waitress had a great sense of humor. The dinner was by the lake and on the lake were beautiful swans and boats. There was a ‘beware of sharks’ sign, but honestly the water was way too shallow for sharks. I think it was just for entertainment. Anyways, my friends and I regretted spending up to $50 at this restaurant!

IMG_2450 2.JPG

I’d rate this trip a 9.5/10.. everything was amazing, even with the long train rides and expensive food. I enjoyed getting away for the summer and making memories with my friends! Next stop: Cancun? Stay tuned!

BINGE-WATCH WORTHY: Netflix Edition

Now that finals are over and summer break has officially started (for me at least), I can get onto endless binge watching of my favorite television shows when I’m not working. Luckily, Netflix has been giving us great shows of their own which I will also cover. Now lets work down this list of my favorite binge-watch worthy tv shows (these are not in any specific order). I’m sure some of these will look familiar…

tv_the_walking_dead_wallpaper1. The Walking Dead (6 seasons)

Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman, this gritty drama portrays life in the weeks and months following a zombie apocalypse. Led by police officer Rick Grimes, his family and a group of other survivors find themselves constantly on the move in search of a safe and secure home. But the pressure each day to stay alive sends many in the group to the deepest depths of human cruelty, and Rick discovers that the overwhelming fear of the survivors can be more deadly than the zombies walking among them.

2I-QZZkR2. The Office / U.S. (9 seasons)

This U.S. adaptation — set at a paper company based in Scranton, Pa. — has a similar documentary style to that of the Ricky Gervais-led British original. It features the Dunder-Mifflin staff, which includes characters based on roles in the British show — and, quite possibly, people with whom you work in your office. There’s Jim, the likable employee who’s a bit of an every man. Jim has a thing for receptionist-turned-sales-rep Pam — because office romances are always a good idea! There’s also Dwight, the co-worker who is successful but devoid of social skills and common sense.

breaking-bad-S5-400x600-compressedV13. Breaking Bad (5 seasons)

Mild-mannered high school chemistry teacher Walter White thinks his life can’t get much worse. His salary barely makes ends meet, a situation not likely to improve once his pregnant wife gives birth, and their teenage son is battling cerebral palsy. But Walter is dumbstruck when he learns he has terminal cancer. Realizing that his illness probably will ruin his family financially, Walter makes a desperate bid to earn as much money as he can in the time he has left by turning an old RV into a meth lab on wheels

how-to-get-away-with-murder4. How To Get Away With Murder (3 seasons)

Annalise Keating (Oscar- and Tony-winning actress Viola Davis), a brilliant, charismatic and seductive professor of defense law, teaches a class called How to Get Away With Murder. Annalise, also a criminal defense attorney, selects a group of students — the best and the brightest — to assist with cases at her firm alongside her employees, the trustworthy and discreet Frank Delfino (Charlie Weber) and Bonnie Winterbottom (“Gilmore Girls” alum Liza Weil), an associate attorney. Mysteries arise that test everyone’s limits and reveal dark truths.

BobsBurgers

5. Bob’s Burgers (1 season)

Bob Belcher is a third-generation restaurateur who runs Bob’s Burgers with his loving wife and their three children. Bob believes his burgers speak for themselves and isn’t afraid to offer a variety of off-beat creations. Bob’s wife, Linda, supports his dream but is becoming sick of the slow times, as the restaurant is constantly in danger of going out of business. Despite the challenges, which includes consistent harassment from Linda’s ex — a health inspector — Bob tries to keep the grill sizzling.

GreysCoverPhoto
6. Grey’s Anatomy (12 seasons)

The medical drama series focuses on a group of doctors at a hospital in Seattle, including several who began their careers at the facility as interns. One of the doctors and the show’s namesake, Meredith Grey, is the daughter of a famous surgeon. She struggles to maintain relationships with her colleagues, particularly the hospital’s one-time chief of surgery, Richard Webber, due to a pre-existing relationship between them — Webber and Meredith’s mother had a personal relationship when Meredith was young.

American-Horror-Story-Universal-Featured-081720167. American Horror Story (5 seasons)

“American Horror Story” was created by the co-creators of “Glee,” but the shows have little in common besides that. The show revolves around the Harmons, a family of three, who move from Boston to Los Angeles in order to reconcile past anguish. What the Harmons don’t know is that the house they’ve moved into is haunted. But it’s not haunted by Casperesque friendly ghosts — it’s haunted by demonic creatures. The creatures have a history of not only spooking the house’s residents but also devouring them. After living in this house, family patriarch and psychiatrist, Ben, may need a shrink of his own.

americandad-default-nologo-800x450-800x450_0623201404148. American Dad (8 seasons)
Stan Smith is a CIA agent painfully dedicated to homeland security. His home life includes doting wife Francine, a ditzy housewife, liberal daughter Hayley and socially awkward teenaged son Steve. Also living in the family’s Langley Falls, Va., home are Klaus, a goldfish with the brain of an East German Olympic ski jumper, and Roger, an escaped alien from Area 51, who Stan houses in defiance of his employer due to owing Roger a “life debt.” Sounds just like the typical American family, right? Maybe not.
Shamelessseasonįposter9. Shameless / U.S. (6 seasons)

Oscar-nominated actor William H. Macy stars as Frank Gallagher, a single father of six who spends much of his free time drinking at bars. The Gallagher children — led by oldest daughter Fiona (Emmy Rossum), who takes on much of the child-rearing responsibility due to her mother’s absence — manage to raise themselves in spite of Frank’s lack of parenting and unusual parenting style when he does choose to act like a father. The drama is an adaptation of the BAFTA Award-winning British show of the same name.

304160pretty-little-liars_300x40010. Pretty Little Liars (6 seasons)
As time has passed since Alison, then the queen bee of the bunch, went missing. Spencer, Aria, Hanna and Emily have gone on with their lives, though they’ve grown apart. As the years go by, each girl finds herself facing a new set of challenges when anonymous text messages from “A” threaten to expose all their secrets — both old secrets the girls were sure only Alison knew, and newer secrets developed after Alison’s disappearance. Who is “A” and how does he or she know the things he or she knows? Based on the series of novels by Sara Shepard.
1200x627-Q80_0ad7cbf69ffbcdc6f079fa324d12396011. Scandal (5 seasons)
“Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes is the creative mind behind this ABC drama. Olivia Pope, a former media consultant to the president, is ready to move on with her life and opens her own crisis-management firm, but she can’t seem to shake ties with her past. Olivia’s staff includes Quinn Perkins, who has a complicated history, and hacker extraordinaire Huck. As she moves forward it becomes clear that, while her staffers may specialize in cleaning up the lives of other people, they can’t seem to do the same for themselves.
greenleaf12. Greenleaf (1 season)

The Greenleaf family, which runs sprawling Memphis megachurch Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, appears to be a loving and caring clan. Beneath the surface, though, exists scandalous secrets and lies. Greed, adultery and sibling rivalry are among the issues that threaten to test the family’s faith and tear the group apart. The scandalous happenings are uncovered by Grace, the estranged daughter of church leader Bishop James Greenleaf, when she returns home after a 20-year absence. Oprah Winfrey has a regular role on the show as Mavis, Grace’s aunt.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit13. Law & Order: Special Victim Unit (4 seasons)
Detectives who are part of the NYPD’s Special Victims Unit investigate crimes against the vulnerable. While the focus of other shows in the “Law & Order” franchise is primarily on murder cases, the SVU detectives frequently deal with rape and assault, in which a survivor assists with the investigation. The series cast of veteran actors includes Mariska Hargitay and rapper Ice-T, and occasional crossover episodes feature detectives from other series including editions of the “Law & Order” franchise and as well as “Chicago PD,” another series from the mind of executive producer Dick Wolf.
voo2ut14. That 70’s Show (8 seasons)

Set in the mood ring and polyester era of the 1970s, the series is a retro-hip situation comedy about an eclectic group of friends on the verge of adulthood. They live in the suburbs of Wisconsin, where they yearn for independence amid the growing pains of becoming adults.

NETFLIX ORIGINALS

I must say, Netflix has done a hell of a job with their new releases. About a year ago I wouldn’t even give the time of day to their originals. The moment I gave The Stranger Things a try, I was HOOKED. Now, I’m watching almost each and every one of their new releases. Next up on my list: Dear White People.

7. Sense 8

From the creators of “The Matrix” and “Babylon 5” comes this series in which eight people can telepathically experience each other’s lives.

8. Making A Murderer

Filmed over 10 years, this real life thriller follows a DNA exoneree who, while exposing police corruption, becomes a suspect in a grisly new crime.

9. BoJack Horseman

13. Orange Is The New Black

What’s In My Makeup Bag

What’s in my Makeup Bag? When I’m taking a trip home from college, sleeping over at a friend’s, or wherever the destination may be, these are my essentials for travel.

FACE

img_4761

L’Oreal Paris True Match, $7 | Out of my top 3 fave drug store foundations, this one would be ranked #2 in the shade Nut Brown. This foundation provides a medium coverage, while also giving a radiant glow. I rank this #2 because it’s one of the foundations out of my collection that is just more liquidity than the others which I am not that fond of. Nonetheless I love this foundation because not only does it give my skin a radiant glow, it stays on through out the day.

img_4763

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Mist & Fix Spray, $14 | THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. Definitely a 10/10 setting spray. I usually use NYX’s setting spray but I decided to up my game a bit and try something new and I’ve been in love ever since. This setting spray will literally keep your makeup on all day.

img_4774

SheaMoisture Face Primer, $16 | This product I also love. This primer is liquid based and goes on the skin very smoothly. Those who aren’t aware of what primer is used for, it is used to prep and prime the skin before you apply your makeup. The key ingredients in this primer are Shea Butter and antioxidant-rich Vitamin E! This primer can be worn alone, considering it also restores moisture which I love because I have dry skin.

img_4778-1

L.A. Girl HD Pro Concealer, $5 | A very popular product. I own this product in three colors — fawn, medium beige, and cocoa. I use cocoa on my dark marks before I apply my foundation, fawn for my highlight, and fawn + medium beige for cleaning up my brows and prepping my eyelids for eyeshadow along with my primer.

EYES

img_4772

NYX Cosmetics Hot Singles Eyeshadow, $5 | I get this in the shade ‘Bonfire’ and I love this shade because it blends right in with my foundation, giving me a natural look. NYX also has other shades which are very pigmented and I highly recommend them if you’re looking for pigmented eyeshadow for a low price.

img_4770

Wet n’ Wild Megaliner Liquid Eyeliner, $4 | I prefer liquid eyeliner over any other form because it is easy for me to put on. I usually put this over my eyeshadow if my face is pretty dull for a special occasion. If you’re looking for an eyeliner that doesn’t crease or smears, this is the one for you.

img_4764-1

Maybelline Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara, $6 | Definitely one of my top 5 drug store mascaras. This mascara doesn’t leave chunks on my eyelashes like some others do when I tend to put an excessive amount on. Fortunately with this, you don’t need to put an excessive amount on to make your eyelashes look fuller, thick, and dark. This gets the job done!

LIPS

img_4769-1

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip, $6 | In the shade ‘Avenue’, this  dark brick red shade goes well with my a plain face with settle eyeliner — at least that’s how I like to wear it. I love Colourpop’s matte lipsticks because you can put on one layer and it’ll stay on all night or day.

img_4767-1

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip, $6 | In the shade ‘Limbo’, this is the perfect brown lip! It goes well with a natural bronze look which is what I like to go for. I’ll wear this with a lot of highlighter and just mascara.
img_4768-1

Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip, $6 | This lip gloss in the shade ‘Finder’s Keepers’ is perfect for the most natural look, especially for WOC. Definitely the go-to shade for a natural face if you’re looking for a subtle hint of color.

HIGHLIGHT

img_4765

Colourpop Super Shock Highlight, $8 | In the shade ‘Avalon’, this highlighter is a true copper color. I like it because I don’t do much contouring, so this darker highlighter gives my face a radiant glow close to my natural skin color. Almost like a bronzer.

BROWS

img_4766-1

Colourpop Brow Colour,  $6 | When I say this works just as good as ABH Brow Pomade… I get this in the shade ‘Black N’ Brown’ to fill in and outline my brows. After that, I use some clear eyebrow gel to set it and voilá!

Along with all of these goodies, I keep a face brush, beauty blender, small blending sponge, makeup remover wipes, eyeshadow brush, and eyebrow grooming brush in my bag which are all essentials when applying makeup. I try not to carry too much when traveling. I just pick my go-to items that I know will look amazing on me. Have you tried any of these products or recommend any good items to try? Comment below on your thoughts! Thanks for reading.

COMFY + CHIC // RIHANNA

Comfy + chic… the middleman for the laid back and stylish. Here’s some of my fave  comfy + chic looks from Robyn Fenty herself..

RR1
Rihanna spotted arriving at a nightclub, wearing Alexander McQueen.

The Puma brand ambassador wore a pair of McQ shoes by Alexander McQueen. These are the Run Lo in Moonlight (a mash up of pink, beige, blue, black and speckled detail). Although I’m not sure where she got her dress or flannel from, the popstar paired this plain fit with some chic accessories:

  • Adam Selman x Le Specs sunglasses ($119)
  • MCM train case ($495)
  • Custom ‘Fenty’ necklace designed by Jennifer Fisher.

DUPE THIS LOOK

Not bad huh? I’m very plain and simple with my color choices, but of course you can go with whichever colors of your liking! The Metallic purse makes the look stand in the middle of fun and plain jane. I chose Mac’s ‘Ruby Woo‘ ($17) as my red go-to shade but don’t hesitate to try something different! Now let’s move on to fit number two.

RR2
Rihanna was spotted in a Burberry python trench coat.

Fenty made green and pink look like the most perfect color combination ever with pieces from Burberry and Vetements. The trench coat with the sweatsuit – this is what I call comfy + chic! Now unfortunately finding a sweat suit like this on Polyvore was hard to find, so here’s my take on this look.

DUPE THIS LOOK

Who doesn’t love an all black fit? And there’s nothing more comfortable than wearing sweats.  The super cropped hoodie gives you an edge, likewise with the fishnet panties & simple bralette. I chose Metallic heels to spice up the black and hint of red with a dark red Metallic lip from Lime Crime as well – Similar to Riri’s look in a fun and sporty way!

Rihanna wore a tee by Isaac Sellam Experience as a dress.

Believe it or not, the dress Rihanna is wearing in this pic above is a men’s tee by Isaac Sellam Experience. It’s the Trouillard tee, which features straps dangling from the hem. Of course, it’s sold out but click here to view the current women’s collection or click here for menswear. Rihanna graced this look with Tom Ford’s padlock sandals. Leave it up to Rihanna to keep this look very simple, but here’s my take on this fit with a hint of EXTRA.

DUPE THIS LOOK

Unfortunately the Aldo White Strappy Sandals and Denim Jacket were sold out, but those are common items you can find just about anywhere. I see a lot of celebrities and every day people rock this fit and it’s definitely in my book for comfy + chic. You can even make it as simple as Rihanna’s look without the accessories and jacket. Now onto our last and my favorite look 😊

Rihanna rocked a Balenciaga jacket in New York

Rih rocked a blue and black jacket from Balenciaga‘s Fall/Winter 2016 collection. Made of canvas, the off-the-shoulder parka features a detachable hood and logo-embroidered stand collar.Underneath she sported a Roc Nation t-shirt. This is the Clearport tee ($45) and on the front is a graphic of a private jet and the label’s paper plane logo. Rih wore her own Fenty x Puma high heel sneaker boot in white, costing no less than $600. The shoes have Puma branding on the side, a Gothic number thirteen and a side zip closure. I love this look for the edgy feel that overrides its simplicity, yet the overall look is still pretty plain. This look definitely gives off comfy vibes with the t-shirt and jeans.

Comfy black skinny jeans can be found almost at any retailer and goes perfect with any graphic tee. Ankle boots are also very popular! I love to go all black (or any other neutral color) with a pop of color. The light mauve pink compliments the neon burnt orange very well. This is something I’d definitely wear to a date, the mall, or kick back with friends.

As we come to an end, I’d like to thank hausrihanna for the amazing pictures! Check out their site for Rihanna’s latest looks. In the meantime, take a look at a few other fits that go well with my Comfy + Chic theme! Thanks for reading ❤️

A Night Out On The Town

Dress: Jasmine Off Shoulder Neck Detail Midi Dress in Black (Size 4)

Shoes: Liliana Triple Buckle Strappy Stiletto Heel (unavailable) in White from UrbanOG.com (size 7.5)

I got the chance to wear this lovely fit to my best friend’s birthday dinner two weeks ago and I loved every minute I spent with her and her family. The dress comes with a choker which is attached from the back of the dress, made from the same fabric as the dress. I paired this look with my apple watch with a black band to match my dress and kept it very simple looking. Very inexpensive look (besides the watch, haha)!

Made with 100% all natural and organic Argon Oil, Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, and a mixture of essential oils, this product is amazing! It is sale now for $9.50 (originally $10.50). This serum is very lightweight and has a tropical scent to it. I’m not a big fan of body serums but this one is definitely a bang for your buck! This product can be compared to various glow serums from high end brands like Bare Minerals & NARS, although it’s biggest competitor (in my opinion) is Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer.

I’ve been using Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer for 2 years now and I can honestly say that all this product has provided me with is moisture, no glow. With Cari Naturals Caribbean Goddess Glow Serum, you get both! Take a look at this..

Here’s my arm without the glow serum on it and after, both with flash. *inserts heart eyes emoji*!!!!!!! Im telling you, definitely a bang for your buck. This product works best when applied directly after showering. Although I have not tried this yet, Kathyana says that this product can be mixed in with liquid foundation for added shimmer! PLEASE NOTE: SHAKE WELL BEFORE APPLYING! Contents may settle if not used occasionally, which is normal. Also, applying can result in the staining of lightly colored clothes. Due to the richness in pigment of this glow serum, be mindful that a little will go a long way!

If you’re not into glow serums, Cari Naturals also has a lot of other products like these body butters!

Stranilla Souffle, Glow Butter, Sage n Tings, & Original by Cari Naturals.

Unlike the serum, these body butters come in a thicker form (kind of like coconut oil).

Stranilla Souflee

This product is made with 100% unrefined shea butter and a blend of coconut, jojoba, vitamin E oil, and other essential oils. With this product, you can start your day smelling like a fresh basket of freshly picked, juicy strawberries topped off with sweet and fluffy whipped cream! This product is best for people with sensitive and dry skin like me, and eczema, scars, and/or sores.

Glow Butter

This product is not just for the summertime but all year round. With it’s rich bronze pigment, this body butter not only gives you the most genuine Caribbean sun-kissed glow, but keeps you moisturized ALL DAY! This product gave my skin an instant and very noticeable glow, so I give this product a 10 out of 10! (MY FAVORITE because it is very similar to the serum.)

Sage n Tings

What do you get when you mix a little bit of all natural, pure sage oil with the sweet smell of ginger? You get Sage n’ Tings! With the same awesome benefits as the Cari Whipped Body Butter in Original, not only will you be moisturized all throughout the day but you’ll smell irresistibly amazing as well!

Original “Holy Grail”

The absolute HOLY GRAIL of ALL body butters ever created. With the scent of rich shea and calming lavender, this butter is perfect for men, women, and children. It’s rich and fluffy texture is guaranteed to keep you moisturized! If you’re into products without fruity scents, this is definitely a go to.
