Mini Target Haul | June 2017

Hi loves! So I did a mini shopping trip today at Target and picked up a few hair care products + a skin care essential.

Miss Jessie’s® Coily Custard | This product is a lotion base and is best for fighting curly hair shrinkage! Also works well for people with kinky curls. You can also use this for wash n’ go styling, rod sets, and as a daily curl refresher. This product helps to turn hair with a tight curl pattern to a lose moisturized curl. I, myself have very tight curls. I haven’t tried this product yet but I’ve heard so many good things about it that I had to get it for myself!

FOR DAILY USE: Evenly distribute a capful or more to damp, freshly washed, conditioned and detangled hair. Spread a generous amount until you have good coverage. Make sure you scrunch the hair to encourage curl. To dry: either use a diffuser attachment to dry the hair or air dry and GO! To refresh curl dampen hair and apply a capful or more of Coily Custard and repeat steps above. [link to product here]

Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls | This product works well if you want larger expanded curls, wash n’ go styling, and a quick dry styling lotion to achieve big, soft curly hair. One thing I like about this product is that it is so light on your hair! This product is definitely a go to if you want something that will enhance your curls, yet don’t want to use a lot of product. SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner & Shampoo | I love this! These products detangle, moisturize, repairs and restores lifeless dry, damaged or over-processed hair. The sea kelp inside provides mineral-rich nutrition which seals and smoothes hair cuticle.

Argan oil inside restores shine while helping promote hair elasticity. Lastly, the shea butter deeply moisturizes while conditioning hair and scalp. I just started using these products to wash my hair, mainly because my hair can get very dry — especially in its natural state. Using the conditioner more frequently than the shampoo has made my hair extremely moisturized and I can see a significant increase in shine! [link to the shampoo here]

Garnier Fructis Style Sleek & Shine Flat Iron Perfector Flexible Hold Straightening Mist | Get a 48H straight finish and heat protection for the perfect sleek style. This straightening mist with argan oil from Morocco protects your hair from the heat of your flat iron, while taming frizz to seal in smoothness and shine for a lasting, sleek finish. Haven’t tried this before, but I did want to add something to my heat protectant that would keep my hair super straight as well as protected.  [link to product here]

Clear Aloe Vera Gel | The key to moisturized skin! Well, one of the keys at least. I usually go for an aloe vera masks (which is also a good alternative), but this time I went with this. Usually, this product is ideal for people with sunburns. You can use this product as a substitute for any type of oil you use on your skin. It is up™ to 97.7% pure aloe vera gel and provides fragrance-free, alcohol-free and dye-free cooling moisture therapy! This cooling and soothing, non-oily gel is absorbed quickly and helps skin retain moisture and promote healing for irritated skin. I also hear you can use this product as a hair mask. I’ll have to look more into that! [link to product here]

That’s it for my mini Target haul. I’m trying my best to find a good long term hair care regimen that won’t do so much damage on my hair when I flat iron it on my own + products that will make my curls poppin’ when I want to wear it in its natural state! Have you tried any of these products before? Let me know in the comment section below! I’d love to hear your feedback. Thanks for reading! 🌻

Concert Series: Tory Lanez

Would you rather: leave to go to a concert early to get first spot in line even though you know the wait will be long to get inside, or leave late to avoid the long line and the wait even though you know you’ll have bad seats?
As my best friend and I planned, we were going to get ready for the concert early so that we could leave for the concert on time. But as you know with us girls it never works out that way! The concert started at 7:30 PM and we left my house around say….. 8:30 PM. Reasons being:

  1. I had to SLAY her make up and then mine. Which if you didn’t know, takes up a lot of time.
  2. Of course we took a thousand and one pictures.
  3. We’re black. So of course we were running on CPT (Colored People Time), haha.

Walking down the streets of Downtown Cleveland made me miss home so much. It sucks being 3 hours away. I couldn’t help but think about the exploring I plan to do once I come home for winter break. Along the same strip as our destination, The House of Blues, there’s a bakery named Colossal Cupcakes which I’m dying to try. Sucks to say I’ve been living in Cleveland all of my life and I’ve never had a cupcake from there. I’ve heard so many good reviews about the place that it’s now on my to-do list of places I need to visit.

For those who don’t know, The House of Blues has no seating. Close to an hour already into the concert, my best friend and I stood with a huge crowd of people as we listened to the opening act: Taylor Bennett (Chance The Rapper’s brother). He was amaaazzziiinnnggg!!! I can’t even explain how great of an artist he is. It’s  almost like having two versions of Chance; they sound exactly the same! Next up was Kranium, a Jamaican singer. I didnt know much about him ’till my best friend explained to me who he was. Then it poppped up in my head that I’ve heard one of his songs before. He had the crowd singing all old reggae tunes like “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley and “Hold Yuh” by Gyptian.

And here you have it folks, the moment we were all waiting for! 😩  😍

Tory Lanez came out and performed all of his top hits! Luv, Say It, Flex, N.A.M.E…. the list goes on. My best friend and I were surprisingly  very close to him, which I definitely wasn’t complaining about considering it was packed and very hot. In the middle of his performance, Tory stopped his music to give us a review of his past life along with some inspirational words. He told us that no matter who they are (your boss, teacher, sister, mother, etc.), do not let anyone keep you from living the life you want to live.

As the concert came to a close, Tory began crowd surfing while singing his feature to “Litty” by Meek Mill. I was so close to touching him but not close enough! About an inch away but my hand couldn’t reach far enough. I was so bummed out when it all was over. Maybe if I just had reached a little further I would’ve been able to touch him. I bet the guy holding his hand to keep him up was very ecstatic. All in all, I had a great time and now want to expand my concert series! Next up: ????

Xoxo,
