#DOTW | Stuck In The Waiting Place

But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Romans 8:25

Recently, I’ve been waiting for God to show up. I’ve got a few things on my list that need to be taken care of. I feel like I’ve been working so hard  and have been so patient that in no time, God will give me what I’ve been praying for. This is a rough place to be in, but patience is truly the key in this process.

When we’re feeling stuck in the waiting place, our society says, “Get out and do something about it.” You’ll be told to smile more, care less, be happy, and think good thoughts.

Good advice, but sometimes change is outside our control. Know that we’re not in charge, yet, GOD GIVES US CONTROL OF WHICH DIRECTION OF LIFE WE WANT TO TAKE.

You’ve probably got a list of things you want to see happen, just like me! Perhaps you are waiting for a job, for healing, for restoration in a relationship, or for wisdom to know where you should go next. Here’s a prayer to help.

Dear Lord,

I know that I am always wrapped up in to what will happen next.Forgive me for how I have worried about this situation. Forgive me for doubting your love and care in my life. Forgive me for my discontentment as I wait for what happens next. Forgive me for being impatient.

In Jesus name’

Amen.

Although you prayed, know that God is right where you He always said He would be. He’s never left you and He will never forsake me. He hears all of your cries. In fact as David wrote in Psalm 139, He know your thoughts before you even think them. He knows exactly what is happening in your life and what will happen next. All things are in His control and nothing can happen apart from His will. Not a sparrow falls to earth without God willing it to and He know the number of hairs on my head. He is never surprised. Even about the issues in your life today. He know why this is happening and will use it for His glory and your good. ❤️

COMFY + CHIC // RIHANNA

Comfy + chic… the middleman for the laid back and stylish. Here’s some of my fave  comfy + chic looks from Robyn Fenty herself..

RR1
Rihanna spotted arriving at a nightclub, wearing Alexander McQueen.

The Puma brand ambassador wore a pair of McQ shoes by Alexander McQueen. These are the Run Lo in Moonlight (a mash up of pink, beige, blue, black and speckled detail). Although I’m not sure where she got her dress or flannel from, the popstar paired this plain fit with some chic accessories:

  • Adam Selman x Le Specs sunglasses ($119)
  • MCM train case ($495)
  • Custom ‘Fenty’ necklace designed by Jennifer Fisher.

DUPE THIS LOOK

Not bad huh? I’m very plain and simple with my color choices, but of course you can go with whichever colors of your liking! The Metallic purse makes the look stand in the middle of fun and plain jane. I chose Mac’s ‘Ruby Woo‘ ($17) as my red go-to shade but don’t hesitate to try something different! Now let’s move on to fit number two.

RR2
Rihanna was spotted in a Burberry python trench coat.

Fenty made green and pink look like the most perfect color combination ever with pieces from Burberry and Vetements. The trench coat with the sweatsuit – this is what I call comfy + chic! Now unfortunately finding a sweat suit like this on Polyvore was hard to find, so here’s my take on this look.

DUPE THIS LOOK

Who doesn’t love an all black fit? And there’s nothing more comfortable than wearing sweats.  The super cropped hoodie gives you an edge, likewise with the fishnet panties & simple bralette. I chose Metallic heels to spice up the black and hint of red with a dark red Metallic lip from Lime Crime as well – Similar to Riri’s look in a fun and sporty way!

Rihanna wore a tee by Isaac Sellam Experience as a dress.

Believe it or not, the dress Rihanna is wearing in this pic above is a men’s tee by Isaac Sellam Experience. It’s the Trouillard tee, which features straps dangling from the hem. Of course, it’s sold out but click here to view the current women’s collection or click here for menswear. Rihanna graced this look with Tom Ford’s padlock sandals. Leave it up to Rihanna to keep this look very simple, but here’s my take on this fit with a hint of EXTRA.

DUPE THIS LOOK

Unfortunately the Aldo White Strappy Sandals and Denim Jacket were sold out, but those are common items you can find just about anywhere. I see a lot of celebrities and every day people rock this fit and it’s definitely in my book for comfy + chic. You can even make it as simple as Rihanna’s look without the accessories and jacket. Now onto our last and my favorite look 😊

Rihanna rocked a Balenciaga jacket in New York

Rihanna rocked a Balenciaga jacket in new York

Rih rocked a blue and black jacket from Balenciaga‘s Fall/Winter 2016 collection. Made of canvas, the off-the-shoulder parka features a detachable hood and logo-embroidered stand collar.Underneath she sported a Roc Nation t-shirt. This is the Clearport tee ($45) and on the front is a graphic of a private jet and the label’s paper plane logo. Rih wore her own Fenty x Puma high heel sneaker boot in white, costing no less than $600. The shoes have Puma branding on the side, a Gothic number thirteen and a side zip closure. I love this look for the edgy feel that overrides its simplicity, yet the overall look is still pretty plain. This look definitely gives off comfy vibes with the t-shirt and jeans.

Comfy black skinny jeans can be found almost at any retailer and goes perfect with any graphic tee. Ankle boots are also very popular! I love to go all black (or any other neutral color) with a pop of color. The light mauve pink compliments the neon burnt orange very well. This is something I’d definitely wear to a date, the mall, or kick back with friends.

As we come to an end, I’d like to thank hausrihanna for the amazing pictures! Check out their site for Rihanna’s latest looks. In the meantime, take a look at a few other fits that go well with my Comfy + Chic theme! Thanks for reading ❤️

Less is More | Ways to Detox Your Life

Have you ever looked at your life and thought about how you have so much to do yet not enough time? Have you ever seemed unsatisfied even after getting what you want? Or find yourself wanting more? I tend to do this a lot as a college student. Trying to do it all, be it all, and have it all is exhausting. All too often we tend to push ourselves to be the best, and end up realizing that some of the things we want aren’t really that important. Recently, I’ve started reading “Less is More” by Domonique Bertolucci. I encourage you all to read it, but in the mean time here’s some knowledge that I’ve gained and would like to share with you all. ❤️

“Take care of your body. Its the only place you have to live.” – Jim Rohn

Spring Cleaning

You don’t have to wait ’till spring to do some spring cleaning – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. If you’re not careful, toxic people can negatively influence the way you think, feel, and behave.

Toxic People

They can introduce unnecessary stress into your life and cause chaos that will drag you down. Those who waste your time, criticize you all of the time, play victim, and constantly disappoint you… G2G! If you find yourself talking negative about them a lot, blaming them for your behavior, or even feel like they are dwindling your self-esteem… G2G! Oh and also, learn to say no!

Be Present

These two words can make a huge difference in simplifying your life. Living here and now, in the moment, keeps you aware of life, of what is going on around you and within you. It does wonders for your sanity.

  1. Find inner simplicity. I have found that spending a little time with my inner self creates a peaceful simplicity rather than a chaotic confusion. This could be time praying or communing with God, or time spent meditating or journaling or getting to know yourself, or time spent in nature. However you do it, working on your inner self is worth the time.
  2. Develop equanimity. If every little thing that happens to you sends you into anger or stress, your life might never be simple. Learn to detach yourself, and be more at peace.
  3. Free up time. Find ways to free up time for the important stuff. That means eliminating the stuff you don’t like, cutting back on time wasters, and making room for what you want to do.

Learn what “enough” is.

Our materialistic society today is about getting more and more, with no end in sight. Sure, you can get the latest anything. More stuff. But when will you have enough? Most people don’t know, and thus they keep wanting more. We also look at others and wish our life was like theirs. We look at our lives and aren’t satisfied. We sometimes become jealous and start trying to live a life that was not made for us.  It’s a never ending cycle. Get off the cycle by figuring out how much is enough. And then stop when you get there.

  1. Practice moderation.

“Nothing is more deliberating than living a life of extremes. If you want to live a long and healthy life, make sure you try a bit of everything and not too much of anything.” – Domonique Bertolucci

  2. Limit your media consumption.  I believe that the media in our lives — TV, radio, Internet, magazines, etc. — can come to dominate our lives. Don’t let it. Take a break. Simplify your life and your information consumption by limiting it. Try a media fast. Turn your phone for a few minutes a day and be present.
  3. Be content. Love your life. Be happy with your growth and where you are now. Appreciate the people God sent you, they are there for a reason.  Don’t look for satisfaction in the way someone else is living their life because their life wasn’t meant for you. Appreciate His blessings because your life could always be worse.

“Happiness, true happiness, is an inner quality. It is a state of mind. If your mind is at peace, you are happy. If your mind is at peace, but you have nothing else, you can be happy. If you have everything the world can give – pleasure, possessions, power – but lack peace of mind, you can never be happy.” – Dada Vaswani

A Night Out On The Town

fullsizerender-2fullsizerender-3

Dress: Jasmine Off Shoulder Neck Detail Midi Dress in Black (Size 4)

Shoes: Liliana Triple Buckle Strappy Stiletto Heel (unavailable) in White from UrbanOG.com (size 7.5)

I got the chance to wear this lovely fit to my best friend’s birthday dinner two weeks ago and I loved every minute I spent with her and her family. The dress comes with a choker which is attached from the back of the dress, made from the same fabric as the dress. I paired this look with my apple watch with a black band to match my dress and kept it very simple looking. Very inexpensive look (besides the watch, haha)!

Made with 100% all natural and organic Argon Oil, Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, and a mixture of essential oils, this product is amazing! It is sale now for $9.50 (originally $10.50). This serum is very lightweight and has a tropical scent to it. I’m not a big fan of body serums but this one is definitely a bang for your buck! This product can be compared to various glow serums from high end brands like Bare Minerals & NARS, although it’s biggest competitor (in my opinion) is Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer.

I’ve been using Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer for 2 years now and I can honestly say that all this product has provided me with is moisture, no glow. With Cari Naturals Caribbean Goddess Glow Serum, you get both! Take a look at this..

img_2665

Here’s my arm without the glow serum on it and after, both with flash. *inserts heart eyes emoji*!!!!!!! Im telling you, definitely a bang for your buck. This product works best when applied directly after showering. Although I have not tried this yet, Kathyana says that this product can be mixed in with liquid foundation for added shimmer! PLEASE NOTE: SHAKE WELL BEFORE APPLYING! Contents may settle if not used occasionally, which is normal. Also, applying can result in the staining of lightly colored clothes. Due to the richness in pigment of this glow serum, be mindful that a little will go a long way!

If you’re not into glow serums, Cari Naturals also has a lot of other products like these body butters!

img_2664
Stranilla Souffle, Glow Butter, Sage n Tings, & Original by Cari Naturals.

Unlike the serum, these body butters come in a thicker form (kind of like coconut oil).

Stranilla Souflee

This product is made with 100% unrefined shea butter and a blend of coconut, jojoba, vitamin E oil, and other essential oils. With this product, you can start your day smelling like a fresh basket of freshly picked, juicy strawberries topped off with sweet and fluffy whipped cream! This product is best for people with sensitive and dry skin like me, and eczema, scars, and/or sores.

Glow Butter

This product is not just for the summertime but all year round. With it’s rich bronze pigment, this body butter not only gives you the most genuine Caribbean sun-kissed glow, but keeps you moisturized ALL DAY! This product gave my skin an instant and very noticeable glow, so I give this product a 10 out of 10! (MY FAVORITE because it is very similar to the serum.)

Sage n Tings

What do you get when you mix a little bit of all natural, pure sage oil with the sweet smell of ginger? You get Sage n’ Tings! With the same awesome benefits as the Cari Whipped Body Butter in Original, not only will you be moisturized all throughout the day but you’ll smell irresistibly amazing as well!

Original “Holy Grail”

The absolute HOLY GRAIL of ALL body butters ever created. With the scent of rich shea and calming lavender, this butter is perfect for men, women, and children. It’s rich and fluffy texture is guaranteed to keep you moisturized! If you’re into products without fruity scents, this is definitely a go to.
